Gunnercooke is not a traditional law firm, it doesn’t have the usual partnership structure and lawyers don’t bill by the hour, there are no targets. All work (except litigation and where clients choose otherwise), is charged on a fixed-fee basis, so there are no time-sheets and no unexpected costs for clients. Gunnercooke's lawyers work on the cloud, so they can be (and are) based all over the country), although there are offices in London, Manchester and Leeds: ‘People should be able to practice law without sacrificing their personal life,’ said one of the founders.
The firm’s practice, however, covers all the areas you would expect from a traditional law firm. Clients range from individuals to start-ups, to multi-nationals. Most lawyers have worked in major law firms and have vast amounts of practical, as well as legal, experience. The emphasis is on building long term relationships with clients.
